1908 Miner Jacket waxed
Pike Brothe's 1908 Miner Jacket dates back to the American Gold Rush of the last century. Work jackets in that time were made to protect the wearer from the daily rigors of work. Therefore, classic work jackets from that time are kept simple but functional. The typical expansion pleats on the front and the simple front pockets testify to that. The typical box fit with its silhouette can be found in many photographs from this time.
The cut in combination with our Armor Cloth make this piece a jacket for all seasons. Armor Cloth is a stiff, heavily waxed cotton fabric that was originally used to make covered wagon tops or vehicle tops. However, due to its good water repellent properties, it was also used for outdoor clothing. The fabric is robust, water repellent and durable. The wearer must therefore expect a certain amount of wear-in. Once the fabric is tamed, it is comfortable and over time acquires an unbeatable patina.
