The original jac shirt entered Filson's production some fifty years ago and has served more outdoorsmen in a wide variety of conditions than you can even count. This limited edition version of this icon is made from the thickest and warmest Mackinaw wool for reliable warmth and protection in colder weather.
The 100% Mackinaw virgin wool features a unique and complex fiber structure that wicks moisture to the top of each fiber where it evaporates. This natural moisture wicking has yet to be mimicked by any laboratory-developed fabric, and is the primary reason wool has been the preferred fabric for protection in inclement weather for centuries. In fact, the Mackinaw Wool Jac-Shirt can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water without feeling damp or clammy.

Only the longest and strongest fleece fibers are selected in the production of Mackinaw wool. They are spun into dense, strong yarns that are tightly woven in a pattern to create a fabric that is highly water repellent and repels cold winds while providing excellent breathability. 

 

The Seattle mill combined Mackinaw wool, which has protected lumberjacks and foresters in the forests of the Pacific Northwest from cold, rainy weather for over a century, with the easy-to-wear, versatile utility of a heavyweight shirt. With a classic button placket and adjustable cuffs, it's easy to adjust the ideal ventilation to your workout level.
