Red Wing 8079 Shop Moc Oxford - Hawthorne Abilene

Shop Moc Oxford

In the iconic Red Wing design, the flat Shop Moc Oxford completes the range alongside the two high boot models 877 and 875. The flat Oxford, which was missed by many fans and has now been reintroduced, is available in the most popular leather versions. In terms of workmanship, the Oxford is in no way inferior to the robust boots. With its solid, traditional shoemaker's construction in a frame design, with cork bulging and the indestructible leather qualities, Shop Moc Oxford is a shoe for decades.

Last No.23

Designed for the Moc Toe boot construction of the 633 model, the No. 23 last was developed back in 1930. Most Moc Toe Boots & Oxfords are based on this proven last.

Sizes & fit

If you do not have the opportunity to have your individual size measured in a Red Wing store, we recommend ordering the shoes in the right size. The shoes come with a flat leather or Texon® insole that covers a custom moldable cork midsole. If you prefer an additional insole, we recommend choosing half a size (US size) larger.

Leather quality

Red Wing's oil tanned Rough Out leathers are extremely durable qualities and have been used for over 100 years in the manufacture of countless Red Wing boots. They are resistant to water, sweat and stains. The Roughout leathers are produced exclusively for Red Wing Shoes by SB Foot Tannery using a patented process. Roughout leather surfaces are usually achieved by splitting or sanding, which weakens the material. With Red Wing Roughout leather, the natural fiber side is used on the outside without any loss of quality, which gives the leather its full strength and robustness. The surfaces of these thick leathers have a very natural look as they are not treated with finishing products. The Oil Tanned leathers are among the most robust qualities of all and are therefore also widely used in the work boot sector.

The SB Foot Tannery

S.B. Foot Tanning Company has been a US manufacturer of high-quality leather for shoes and leather accessories since 1872. The leather is used by numerous shoe companies. However, the direct connection to the Red Wing Shoe Company is significant, as the tannery is located in the same town.S.B. The Foot Tanning Company was first founded on the banks of Trout Brook near Red Wing, Minnesota. Founded in 1872 by Silas B. Foot and George Sterling, the S.B. Foot Tanning Company has been part of the Red Wing, Minnesota community for generations. In 1908, the company moved its operations to its current location on Bench Street.
In 1905, the tannery began supplying leather to a local "shoe worker" named Charles Beckman. Charles had founded the Red Wing Shoe Company to manufacture shoes and boots. Within a few years, the combination of high quality leather and the craftsmanship of Red Wing Shoes would create a partnership that survives unbroken to this day.
